SPIELWARENMESSE 2021 POSTPONED

Spielwarenmesse 2021, which would have taken place from Jan. 27-31, has been postponed to the summer due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The international toy show, one of the first to kick off toy fair season, has been called off due to rising coronavirus infection rates worldwide and further restrictions on travel, which would have put the health of its exhibitors and attendees at risk.

“We very much regret the decision to postpone the Spielwarenmesse 2021,” Ernst Kick, CEO of Spielwarenmesse eG said in a statement. “I’d like to thank everyone who joined us on this path, and I feel sure that the improvements we have made will benefit all future events and appearances.”

The change reflects the major uncertainty the industry has been dealing with for holding in-person events. Just last month, the 72nd edition of the show was still on as planned with advanced hygiene protocols. The Toy Association’s Toy Fair New York is also postponed to the spring.

Spielwarenmesse eG is currently in talks with NürnbergMesse to find a new date.
