China Toy Expo 2009 is on the way to success |
China Toy Expo, to be held in Shanghai on October 14-16, 2009 is already promising to be a great opportunity for buyers and visitors to meet the leading manufacturers in each product category, as well as many new export-ready suppliers. To date, 46 percent of our 2008 exhibitors have already ordered over 400 booths for CTE 2009, amounting to a 33 percent increase in space compared to last year. Among them are many top Chinese factories, including Arrow Toys, Bestway, Eurofield Arts Toys, Huawei, Intex, Mojorefte, Mulolo, Smart Toy, Touda Original Toy, etc. The famous GoodBaby brand also announced that they would participate in the 2009 fair in search of more business opportunities.
At the same time, more international toy companies than ever before have said they intend to take part in CTE again next year. As co-organizer, the US Toy Industry Association is working to increase participation by more members this year.
In sum, the facts show CTE 2009 will be something to really look forward to; and China Toy Association (CTA) is making sure everything is prepared for a very successful toy fair for all.

| China Toy Association launches new online service |
The newly enhanced China Toy Association Website, www.toys-yourlinktochina.org was launched in December. Operated by CTA, it is a professional platform for international buyers to purchase toys made in China. The new online service features quality toy suppliers evaluated by CTA based upon their proven capabilities. With its unique toy manufacturer database and the Star Rating assessment guide, it will help buyers find the suppliers they are looking for efficiently. In addition to the business opportunities it provides, the new website is also an important channel to learn more about the Chinese toy industry by offering related industry information, industry reports, trade statistics and rules and regulations on China toy safety.

| CTA held its 14th training program for toy designers |
The 14th training program focused on designers of plush toys. More than 20 attendees, included some from the animation industry, took part in this program, which was held from November 25th to 30th in Beijing. The attendees became Certified Toy designers after strict examination at the end of the program. To date, more than 500 toy designers have been certified through this training program organized by CTA. |

| AQSIQ signs MOU with the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology |
In early November, officials of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of P. R. C. (AQSIQ) met with experts from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (GFMET). They exchanged views on the difficulties the Chinese toy industry is facing due to the global economic crisis, and on further strengthening import and export cooperation. The meeting culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding on toy safety cooperation, intended to enhance communication, understanding and shared experiences of toy safety control.

| Famous department stores from Taiwan plan to expand into mainland China |
Far Eastern Group, which is Taiwan's only listed department store chain, is planning to open 25 new stores on the mainland within five years. Once established, their business income is expected to exceed 10 billion per year. Beginning in 1993, the Far Eastern Group started to expand its chain of department stores into Mainland China. To date, they have opened 12 stores in Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Tianjin, Chengdu etc. In comparison, Pacific China Holding has ten stores, and FE21' has two. The Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, another famous chain department store in Taiwan, is also planning to set up its second store on the mainland. They opened their first store, in cooperation with Beijing Hualian Group, in Beijing in April 2007. |
