The China Toy Conference 2008
The China Toy Association (CTA) is organizing the biennial China Toy Conference to be held in Shanghai on October 8th, 2008. Nearly 400 toy factories from 25 main production regions will participate.
Gu Xiulian, deputy head of the 10th National People's Congress, as well executives from MOFCOM, AQSIQ, CNCA and SMERT have been invited to speak about Chinese economic development, dynamic changes in the toy industry, quality control and safety of toys. The focus of their presentations will be on the difficulties and challenges Chinese toy manufacturers are facing.

“Toys Made in China”
Many international buyers find it very difficult to find reliable toy factories. In September 2008, the China Toy Association (CTA) has published a catalogue, called “Toys Made in China”, to help them. The catalogue covers eight main categories of children’s products. All the factories listed in the catalogue represent leading toy companies that make high quality, reliable products, which meet international standards. The catalogue will be distributed free at the CTE2008. It will also be available at the HK Toys and Games Fair, Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair, American International Toy Fair, etc.

Sino-US meeting on toy safety
On September 20th, the Sino-US toy safety and trade cooperation meeting was held in Guangzhou. May Liang, the Executive Vice President of CTA, addressed the conference on the development of toy safety control in China. Experts from TIA and CQC spoke about the TSCP certification program in the US and CCC certification program in China.

Emphasis on toy designers
More than 50 toy designers were qualified in examinations organized by the China Toy Association in Jiangsu Province last month, and there were another 20 tested in Qingdao, Shandong province, on September 20th - 25th. The interest in the profession reflects the greater attention that Chinese toy companies are paying in the development of new products.
